Funk has been one of the most popular golfers on both the PGA and Champions tours during his entire golf career. He had his first PGA victory in 1992 at the Shell Houston Open. He would go on to win seven other PGA events including The Players Championship in 2005, the event’s oldest winner at 48 years of age. Funk was a member of the U.S. teams for the 2003 and 2005 Presidents Cup and the 2004 Ryder Cup. Upon turning 50 in 2006, he joined the Champions Tour while still remaining ranked in the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking. He won his eighth career PGA Tour tournament in 2007, the fifth-oldest champion in PGA Tour history. Funk is known as one of the most accurate players in golf history, holding the highest driving accuracy on the PGA Tour seven times over a 14-year period where he was in the top 5 an astounding 13 times. He has gone on to win three major senior Champions Tour events with nine total overall victories.
